The Red Capia is a large, thick, juicy and tapered pepper with a shape of donkey ear. So in some countries it’s called “Elephant ear Capia” and in Turkey some regional people call it as donkey ear pepper because of this shape. It’s mostly used as roasted and peeled.
Generally, the length of Capia is between 12 – 26 cm and the calibre is between 5 – 10 cm. This pepper is a native of Eastern Europe and, in fact, the main flavour ingredient in Hungarian Paprika. It’s a great addition to salad, roasted or simply tossed in a quality olive oil with pasta.
